1. Gerneral introduction
Hydroxyethyl Methyl Cellulose (HEMC) is made by high purity fine cotton through series of chemical processing under alkaline conditions. It do not contain any organs of animals, fat or bioactive constituents.
Hydroxyethyl Methyl Cellulose (HEMC) is a tasteless and odorless white or light yellowish powder, which appears to be a transparent viscous solution when dissolved in cold water. As Hydroxyethyl Methyl Cellulose is made by introduction of epoxy ethane substituent on the basis of Methyl Cellulose, it has higher gel temperature and better resistant to saline compared with unmodified polymer.

3.Properties
1)Solubility. Soluble in water (even cold water) and some organic solvents.
2)Salt resistance. As a Non-ionic cellulose ether, HEMC is stable even the metal salts exist in the solution.
3)Surface activity. HEMC can be used as colloid protectiong agent, emulsifying agent and dispersant because of the surface activity of its aqueous solution.
4)Mildew resistance. Benefit from the good mildew resistance, HEMC has excellent viscosity stability even for long time storage.
5)PH stability. The viscosity of the aqueous solution is almost not influenced by acid or alkali especially in the range of 3.0-11.0.
6)Low ash content. As the non-ionic product, it has very low ash content.
7)Water retention. HEMC can be used as efficent water retention for its hydrophily.
8)Other properties. Thickening agent, film former, adhesives, lubricants, suspending agent, shape retention, etc.
Hydroxyethyl Methyl Cellulose is non-ionic cellulose ether made by raw material natural high polymer cellulose as raw material and series of chemical processing. It’s odorless, tasteless and non-toxic white powder, which can be dissolved in cold water to form a transparent viscous solution. Possessing thickening, binding, dispersing, emulsifying, film coating, suspending, absorbing, gelling, surface activity, water maintaining and protective colloid properties.
Hydroxyethyl Methyl Cellulose can be used in building materials, coating industry, synthetic resin, ceramic, pharmaceutical, food, textile, agriculture, cosmetics and other industries.

5.Application guide
A) Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS)
Bond strength: HEMC can provide the greatest degree of high adhesive bond strength of mortar;
Performance: During using of distribution method, the mortar added with HEMC has the right consistency, non-sagging. Making the mortar easy to work continuously in the applications;
Water retention: Can easily wet the wall insulation, easy to paste and make other additional materials achieve the best effect;
Absorbent: Can minimize the air-entrance volume and decrease water absorbing of the mortar.
B) Joint filler
Workability: HEMC can provide the suitable viscosity, which has a good plasticity and easy to work;
Water retention: HEMC can make the slurry fully hydrated, which extend the working time and avoid cracking;
Anti-slipping: HEMC can make a strong adhesion on the surface for the slurry and not sag;
C) Self-leveling mortar
Prevent bleeding: HEMC can play a very good role of suspension, to prevent the slurry sedimentation and bleeding;
Maintain liquidity and improve water retention: Low viscosity of HEMC will not affect the flow of slurry and easy to work. While possesses certain water retention, makes the good surface effect after self-leveling and avoid cracks;
D) Gypsum-based plaster
Water retention: HEMC can retain moisture in the mortar, thus make gypsum completely solid. The higher of the viscosity, the higher of the water-retention, vice versa;
Sag resistance: Allow the worker make a thick coating without causing ripple building;
Mortar yield: For fixed weight of dry mortar, the exist of HEMCcan provide more wet mortar;
E) Ceramic extrusion molding
HEMC can provide good lubricity and plasicity, it can also provide the operational for ceramic molding;
Extremely low ash content can provide a very dense internal structure after calcination, while delicate rounded surface of the product;

6.Package
Packing: 25kg per kraft bag with PE inner or according to customers’ demands.

7.Storage
1) Store in a cool, dry, clean, ventilated environment.
2) Material must be handled as a Industrial chemical, wearing protective equipment and observing the precautions as mentioned in the MSDS.
3) The products should be prevented from water and avoided damaging during transportation.
